China Eastern Airlines introduced non-stop flights to Vancouver Canada from Shanghai China in November 2010. This was a very significant announcement for business and tourism between China and Canada. An indicator of the significance to the BC economy is that the announcement of the new China Eastern Airlines flights was made by the Premier of BC.
This has led to even more flights between China and Vancouver. In June 2011, China Eastern competitor, China Southern Airlines announced non-stop flights from Vancouver to Guangzhou.
