About the Village of Gold River, BC

The village is known as the "Gateway to Nootka Sound". The population of the village is over 1,400. The village was constructed in 1965 to service a new pulp mill. The mill closed in 1998 and now the village has focused on attracting tourism to this incredible recreational area.

Gold River is adjacent to Strathcona Provincial Park. Strathcona is British Columbia's oldest Provincial Park and Vancouver Island's largest park.

This is a jumping point for the world's best salmon and halibut fishing.
